Proud to be supporting 200 years of engineering

No training, No future

"New directions in Training” event

The heritage sector faces many challenges just now but if it is to have a future it must commit to more and better engineering training.

BESTT is planning a “New directions in Training” event for 25th April at the Ironbridge Gorge Museum inCoalbrookdale.

BESTT’s mission is to provide skilled training to give heritage steam a working future.

BESTT is a partnership of steam heritage organisations representing railways, ships and traction engines and is developing a range of training courses on boiler repair (based on demand), maintenance and the mechanical overhaul of steam engines – on rails, land or water.

Over a 6 year period, with funding by National Lottery Heritage Fund, over 30 young people have completed one year traineeships with BESTT and its partners and over half have found employment in the heritage sector.
